Kevin Bacon Joins Eddie Murphy In ‘Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley’

Production is moving right along for Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley. It’s been a long time coming for the comedy franchise’s fourth movie, and they aren’t wasting any time now. With Eddie Murphy Back as the titular Detroit cop, joined by newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Taylour Paige, along with the old crew of Paul Reiser, Judge Reinhold, and more, the film has now added a major dose of star power.

Kevin Bacon is the latest to join the Axel Foley cast, in an unspecified role. But he looks like he should be the villain, right? I’d pay to see Murphy and Bacon trading quips, a few punches, probabloy some gunshots.

The script is by Will Beall, with Mark Molloy making is feature debut.  Paramount had the rights but sold them to Netflix, who are looking to capitalize on the name strength of the 1984 classic and its two sequels. Murphy has a pretty good track record with the streamer already, having earned some of his best reviews for Dolemite is My Name.

Bacon was recently seen in the Peacock horror, They/Them. His Showtime series City on a Hill just wrapped its third season. [Deadline]
