James Gunn Says ‘Peacemaker’ Season 2 Is Safe, ‘The Flash’ Producer Calms Fan Fears

Given the shake-ups at Warner Bros. Discovery that have led to the sudden demise of Batgirl and possibly Supergirl, fans are understandably concerned about some of their favorite DC Comics projects. And creators are scrambling, as well, to reassure fans that everything is okay and that their titles aren’t impacted.

James Gunn took to Twitter to respond to a fan asking if a second season of his Peacemaker series was safe. The show stars John Cena and is a spinoff of Gunn’s The Suicide Squad. A second season was confirmed earlier this year, with some production already having started. But considering Batgirl was damn near completed and still got the axe, this doesn’t mean a lot. Fortunately, Gunn’s reply asks for fans to chill out and stop worrying…

Gunn also tweeted a behind-the-scenes shot of Peacemaker actress Jennifer Holland scarfing down a salad with blood all over her face. In other words, everything is A-OK.

Gunn was not alone in feeling the need to address concerns about their project. Only in the case of The Flash producer Barbara Muschietti, the film in question is probably the one with the most negative heat due to star Ezra Miller’s terrible public image right now. And yet, Muschietti reassured a fan that all is well with The Flash and it’s still set to hit theaters in June 2023.

Ultimately, this is a decision for Warner Bros. Discovery to make, not Muschietti. And with the axe falling heavy and often lately, nothing within the DCEU seems safe.  For Blue Beetle fans concerned about the film’s August 2023 release, they’ve already started a #SaveBlueBeetle social media campaign even though the film was recently shifted from HBO Max to a full theatrical release, in fitting with WBD’s commitment to a blockbuster big-screen experience. And this campaign has attracted the attention of Blue Beetle director Angel Manuel Soto, who has “Liked” a number of tweets from fans asking WBD not to drop the film.

Does this mean Blue Beetle is at risk and Soto is concerned about the situation? Or is he just supporting his movie and the fans who are clearly so passionate about it? Chances are we will find out very soon what the future holds for this film and the entirety of DC Comics projects at the studio.
