‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 5 Teaser: Hulu’s Series That Hits Too Close To Home Returns In September

Is there a place for The Handmaid’s Tale right now? Aren’t we already living through a version of author Margaret Atwood’s dystopian society? Why would anyone want or need to watch a fictionalized version of it, even if it’s led by Golden Glober winner Elisabeth Moss? On top of that, I’d argue the show ran its course a couple of seasons ago. But I’m still ready to strap in as season 5 promises more violence on an even larger scale as June fights back against Gilead.

The Emmy-winning drama series will find June paying the price for murdering Commander Waterford. Meanwhile, Yvonne Strahovski returns as Waterford’s widow, Serena, who discovers that she has a certain amount of power in Canada and intends to hold on to it.

Others set to return include Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, O-T Fagbenle, Madeline Brewer, Samira Wiley, and Ann Dowd. Alexis Bledel, who played Ofgen/Emily Malek through four seasons, won’t be coming back.

The Handmaid’s Tale season 5 hits Hulu on September 14th.
