Debuting at Sundance earlier this year, Adamma Ebo’s Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul puts a satirical spin on a Black Southern Baptist megachurch in the midst of a scandal. The film marks Ebo’s directorial debut, and pairs Regina Hall with Sterling K. Brown.
The film is based on Ebo’s 2018 short film, and centers on Trinitie Childs (Hall) and her scandal-plagued husband Pastor Lee-Curtis Childs (Brown), who used to preach to a congregation of thousands until they were forced to shut down temporarily. But now they’re back and willing to do anything to rebuild their audience and reclaim the throne.
Also in the cast are Nicole Beharie, Conphidance, and Austin Crute. Jordan Peele and Daniel Kaluuya are aboard as exec-producers, as well.
Honk for Jesus, Save Your Soul will hit theaters and stream on Peacock beginning September 2nd.
