‘Obi-Wan Kenobi’ Disney+ Premiere Set For May 25th

Lucasfilm is giving Star Wars fans a real treat to celebrate the franchise’s 45th anniversary: the long-awaited premiere of Obi-Wan Kenobi. The live-action series, which first began life as an attempted movie, will be ready to stream on Disney+ beginning May 25th. Ewan McGregor will return to the role of Obi-Wan Kenobi, having played him in the prequel trilogy beginning with The Phantom Menace in 1999 and concluding with Revenge of the Sith in 2005.

Details on the series have been kept under wraps, except we do know it’ll take place roughly a decade after events in Revenge of the Sith. Kenobi will be on Tatooine looking after a young Luke Skywalker. We know that Anakin Skywalker, post his transformation into Darth Vader, will play a part in the story. Hayden Christensen will return for that role. Kumail Nanjiani and Moses Ingram also have roles.

Add Obi-Wan Kenobi to a growing slate of Star Wars projects on Disney+. Obviously, The Book of Boba Fett has recently come to an end, with The Mandalorian season 3 on the way. Other shows include Cassian Andor, Ahsoka, The Acolyte, and Lando.
