‘Nope’: First Footage From Jordan Peele’s Latest Ahead Of This Weekend’s Trailer

When your first two films as director are cultural powerhouses Get Out and Us, it makes sense to lean into that. That’s what Jordan Peele and Universal Pictures are doing with the first teaser for Nope, the mysterious new film that will have its debut trailer this Sunday during the Super Bowl.

The brief footage mostly consists of striking images from Peele’s two previous films, capitalizing on his quickly-earned reputation as an influential horror director. But we also see Nope’s stars, Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun, staring up in disbelief at…well, something. We don’t actually know the film’s plot, but previous images have shown an ominous cloud in the sky. We do know that it will be shot by famed cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema, known for lensing Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar, Dunkirk, and Tenet, and will be shot in 65mm in IMAX format. Damn.

Nope opens in theaters on July 22nd.
