The Golden Globes took place last night. Did you forget? I sure did. You could be forgiven for not realizing it, too, as there was no pomp, no circumstance, no tipsy acceptance speeches. There was no televised event this time as the HFPA works to get their lack of diversity situation straight, and so the awards were basically announced in press releases and social media postings. Lame? Sure, but is anybody really missing the show? Didn’t think so.
So here are the list of winners. There were some interesting picks, such as West Side Story winning for Best Picture Musical/Comedy, and Kodi Smit-McPhee winning for Best Supporting Actor in a Drama for his performance in The Power of the Dog, which also earned Jane Campion the Best Director and Best Picture Drama. Rachel Zegler, in her debut performance, beat out a tough lineup to win Best Actress Musical/Comedy for her lead role in West Side Story. Will Smith, possibly foreshadowing the Oscars, won for Best Actor in a Drama for his role in King Richard.
