Since we’re likely never going to get a female-led James Bond movie, it’s cool that actresses are getting spy movies to call their own. Gal Gadot has done espionage before, in Keeping Up with the Joneses and, well…her character Gisele was pretty stealthy in the Fast & Furious movies, and now she’ll have one all to her self in thriller Heart of Stone.
There’s some serious talent behind this original spy movie, starting with Wonder Woman 1984 star Gal Gadot. She’ll be working with Wild Rose director Tom Harper from a script by The Old Guard writer and comic book royalty Greg Rucka and Oscar-nominated Hidden Figures writer Allison Schroeder. Seems like an odd mix, but could lead to something interesting.
The plan by all involved, including Skydance Media, “is to put a female spin on action franchises like ‘Mission: Impossible‘ and 007.” That mandate is basically the same as 355, which stars Jessica Chastain, Lupita Nyong’o, and other top actresses.
Deadline says all options are being kept open whether to pursue a theatrical or streaming release. I wouldn’t be surprised if Netflix swoops in to grab it, seeing as how they’re releasing Gadot’s upcoming action film, Red Notice.
