Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Rampage’ Moves Up To Avoid ‘Avengers: Infinity War’

Not even Dwayne Johnson dare face the might of Thanos.

Unsurprisingly, Disney’s decision to move up Avengers: Infinity War a week to April 27th has caused a ripple effect. I just didn’t expect The Rock to run scared like this. His action flick Rampage has been shifted up a week, as well, to April 13th, giving it a full two weeks before Marvel storms in and destroys everybody.

But it’s not just Johnson that’s high-tailing it. Amy Schumer’s comedy I Feel Pretty is also moving off of its April 27th slot, back a week to April 20th.  The film was always going to be counterprogramming, anyway, so maybe the move wasn’t necessary. We’ve seen other female-led comedies perform quite well in direct competition with gigantic blockbusters. Who can forget Sisters scoring over $100M after opening on the same weekend as Star Wars: The Force Awakens?

Still, Schumer’s sheepish reaction (obviously joking) to Robert Downey Jr.’s announcement is probably how a few studio execs felt about the news…
