‘Squid Game’ Season 2 Special Look: The Deadly Game Returns To Netflix This December

Squid Game was a phenomenon in 2021, turning star Lee Jung-jae into an international superstar (he recently starred in Star Wars: The Acolyte), launching a video game, an actual game show, and earning some of Netflix’s highest viewership ever. But that was also three years ago at a time when we were all stuck indoors. Can season two possibly measure up, both creatively and in popularity?

We’re only a few months away from finding out. Netflix has dropped a new Special Look teaser for Squid Game season two, with Jung-jae returning as Player 456/Gi-hun, who didn’t take his winnings from the last game and go off quietly into the sunset. Instead, he’s back to compete again in hopes of tearing the whole institution down.

Returning for season two are Lee Byung-hun, Wi Ha-jun, and Gong Yoo, joined by new cast members Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Lee Jin-uk, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Lee David, Choi Seung-hyun, Roh Jae-won, Jo Yu-ri, and Won Ji-an.

SYNOPSIS: Three years after winning Squid Game, Player 456 gave up going to the states and comes back with a new resolution in his mind. Gi-hun once again dives into the mysterious survival game, starting another life-or-death game with new participants gathered to win the prize of 45.6 billion won.

Squid Game season two hits Netflix on December 26th!
