One could argue the veil of mystery has been lifted too much from David Robert Mitchell’s The End of Oak Street. The latest trailer released today by Warner Bros. shows different kinds of dinosaurs attacking the quaint suburban neighborhood where Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway live, until they are entire street are sent to prehistoric times by a strange flash of light.
The Spielberg vibes are strong in the new footage, unsurprisingly, since the film is set in the 1980s. McGregor and Hathaway lead the Platt tribe, who will have to deal with their family drama while also figuring out a way back home without getting eaten by a raptor.
Formerly titled Flowervale Street, the film also stars Maisy Stella, Christian Convery, Jordan Alexa Davis, Chris Coy, and PJ Byrne.
JJ Abrams is aboard as a producer, which has led to fan theories that it somehow connects to the Cloverfield franchise. But there’s nothing to suggest that in this trailer, and nobody I’ve spoken to who has seen it has mentioned anything about it.
The End of Oak Street hits theaters on August 14th.
