Is Sebastian Stan having a moment, or what? He was just at Cannes, looking bald and quite unrecognizable, in Cristian Mungiu’s Palme d’Or winner Fjord. And now he’s heading to London to star in Matt Reeves’ The Batman: Part II, where he may have just confirmed his role as Harvey Dent will include a transformation into Two-Face.
Stan told Deadline that he’ll be playing “many roles in this one”, a seeming reference to Dent, a heroic Gotham City district attorney who turns into the villainous Two-Face after his face is disfigured by thrown acid. His face hideously disfigured on one side, Dent becomes obsessed with duality and flips a damaged coin to make crucial decisions.
“I’m excited, I’m nervous and trying to keep surprising myself,” Stan said about playing Two-Face. He also confirmed that he’s currently working with the hair and makeup teams who have already “devised how his disfigurement will look.”
Stan has been on a roll with critically acclaimed performances. He earned a Best Actor Oscar nomination for his portrayal of Donald Trump in The Apprentice, and won the Golden Globe for his transformative performance in A Different Man.
He joins a cast that includes Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan, Charles Dance, Brian Tyree Henry, Andy Serkis, Sebastian Koch, Jayme Lawson, and Gil Perez-Abraham. Production on The Batman: Part II begins this week, with a release set for October 1st 2027.
