Matt Reeves spent a chunk of yesterday confirming on social media the cast for The Batman: Part II. Names we were already aware of included Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, and Charles Dance. However, he also added two actors that we hadn’t known about; Oscar nominee Brian Tyree Henry, and The Lives of Others actor Sebatian Koch.
I’m fascinated to see who Henry could be playing. Rumors are Koch might be Dr. Arkham, which makes sense. Arkham was the head of Arkham Asylum who eventually lost his mind while trying to treat the criminally insane.
They all join the returning Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman. Jeffrey Wright will return as Commissioner Gordon, along with Andy Serkis as Alfred, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Jayme Lawson as Mayor Bella Reál, and Gil Perez-Abraham as Officer Martinez. Barry Keoghan is also likely to return as The Joker.
Previous rumors are that Johansson will play Gilda Dent, with Stan as her husband Harvey “Two-Face” Dent, and Dance as Harvey’s alcoholic father, Christopher Dent.
In general, any movie with Brian Tyree Henry is going to be pretty goddamn good. I continue to marvel at how far he’s come, and I maintain that he should’ve won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Causeway a couple of years ago.
The Batman: Part II hits theaters on October 1st 2027.
