The most meta Marvel series ever is right around the corner. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II has made the jump from DC, where he played the villain Black Manta in Aquaman, to Marvel Studios, where he’ll lead its upcoming Wonder Man series. He stars as the MCU version of Simon Williams, a key member of the Avengers team.
For those who don’t know, Simon Williams aka Wonder Man is an Avenger who is also a famous Hollywood actor, so he’s like a celebrity in two different ways. The show follows Simon as tries to make it big, while also dealing with superhero stuff, and running afoul of failed-actor/supervillain Trevor Slattery, played be a returning Ben Kingsley.
Also in the cast are Demetrius Grosse, Ed Harris, and Arian Moayed. Episodes have been directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, Tiffany Johnson, James Ponsoldt, and Stella Meghie.
Wonder Man will run for eight episodes on Disney+, beginning January 27th!
