‘The Strangers: Chapter 3’ Trailer: The Masked Killers Strike One Final Time As Renny Harlin’s Trilogy Concludes

The Strangers horror franchise had remained popular so long because the premise is simple. Sometimes, bad people just do bad things. It can happen to literally anybody, with no rhyme or reason. Veteran director Renny Harlin has stretched out this idea into a full-blown trilogy, and now that story is coming to an end next month with The Strangers: Chapter 3.

As seen in the new trailer from Lionsgate, Madelaine Petsch is back as Maya, in one final showdown with the masked killers who have been stalking her since the beginning. The synopsis describes it as “a brutal, full-circle reckoning of survival and revenge”, and that’s precisely how fans would want this to end.

Also in the cast are Gabriel Basso and Ema Horvath. The screenplay was written by Alan R. Cohen & Alan Freedland.

The two previous films combined for $69M worldwide, which isn’t bad when you consider they cost about $8M each. So this trilogy has to be seen as a success, and don’t be surprised if the brand continues in some other form. I’ve been a fan since Bryan Bertino’s 2008 original, and can’t wait to see how Harlin wraps things up.

The Strangers: Chapter 3 hits theaters on February 6th.
