In theaters now is Bradley Cooper’s Is This Thing On?, starring Will Arnett as a guy who, after separating from his wife, stumbles into a career as a stand-up comedian, finding it to be good therapy. Famously, Arnett stepped on the stage and took up comedy for himself. Most people just assumed he had already done stand-up, but he was a total novice. On set, Arnett was surrounded by real-life comics, and one of them was the red-hot Chloe Radcliffe, who co-stars in the film as Nina.
Radcliffe is doing a lot right now, including her new interview show, In Tandem with Chloe Radcliffe, which follows her breakout one-woman show, CHEAT. While she had a role in Steven Soderbergh’s web series, Command Z, and earned acclaim for her writing on the show, Is This Thing On? marks a new career chapter for Radcliffe as her first feature film role.
I had a blast talking with Chloe Radcliffe about Is This Thing On? We talked about making the jump from comedy to acting, how it can only go down after working with Soderbergh and Cooper back-to-back, and her reaction to Arnett’s first forays into comedy.
