There’s a theme beginning to form around Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Doomsday, and shockingly, it’s not universe-shattering cataclysm. Instead, it’s fathers protecting their children, as seen in the brief Steve Rogers teaser in which he’s seen coddling a newborn child. In the latest trailer, that dynamic shifts to Thor, and gone is the comically reckless, boisterous god of thunder, replaced by a sober parent in crisis.
As seen in the footage, Chris Hemsworth is back as Thor, with his daughter India Rose Hemsworth returning as Love, the child he adopted at the end of Thor: Love and Thunder. The Odin-son kisses Love goodnight, then steps outside and prays for the strength to keep her safe.
Of course, this trailer leaked early as did the previous one, so that’s a problem Marvel needs to get locked down. If you look around, you might be able to find the next one which is reportedly centered on the X-Men.
Expect more teasers to come, but will they continue with this theme? Could this be a setup for Doctor Doom’s master plan? To acquire the children of the greatest Avengers to use for his own evil means?
The Russo Brothers are back to direct Avengers: Doomsday, which opens December 18th 2026.
