’48 Hours In Vegas’: LaKeith Stanfield To Play Dennis Rodman In Crazy NBA Finals Getaway

There are dozens of unbelievable stories surrounding the Chicago Bulls’ epic run of six NBA Championships, many of them chronicled in the incredible documentary The Last Dance. But if there’s one that stands out above the rest, it’s of bad boy Dennis Rodman’s wild diversion to Las Vegas, mid-championship series against the Utah Jazz. That story is to be told in 48 Hours in Vegas, and LaKeith Stanfield has just been named to play the infamous Rodman.

Stanfield will play “The Worm” Dennis Rodman in 48 Hours in Vegas, which also has added Rick Famuyiwa (Dope) as director. Famuyiwa co-wrote the screenplay with Jordan VanDina. Phil Lord and Chris Miller remain attached as producers, with Rodman as an exec-producer.

The news comes around two years after Jonathan Majors was fired from the film and Lionsgate exited the project.

“I’m genuinely excited to help create an exhilarating, joyful work that both honors and thoughtfully examines the legacy of Rodman and fellow trailblazers,”Stanfield said in a statement. “Those who moved to the beat of their own drum, undeterred by the obstacles placed before them, then and now.”

As a diehard Bulls fan, I’ll never forget when Rodman left the team and showed up on muthafuckin’ WCW Nitro the same damn night. This is an insane story and I can’t wait to see it on the big screen. Stanfield is an inspired choice to play Rodman. It’s going to be very interesting to see who plays some of the other larger-than-life figures in his orbit.
