Winner of the Best Feature Film award at Annecy, and a Special Presentation at Cannes, Ugo Bienvenu’s ARCO has many wondering if it might be a quiet contender for Best Animated Feature at the Oscars. NEON sure hopes so, and they quickly acquired the gorgeous sci-fi fantasy following its world premiere. With the release of the new trailer today, it’s easy to see why they’re so high on it.
Beginning in 2932, the film centers on 10-year-old Arco, who uses a rainbow to travel back in time to the year 2075, where he meets Iris. Together, they quickly become friends and attempt to get Arco back home, only to find they might be the only ones who can save Iris’ troubled world.
Originally dubbed in French, the English voice cast includes Romy Fay, Juliano Valdi, Will Ferrell, America Ferrera, Flea, Natalie Portman, Mark Ruffalo, and Andy Samberg.
SYNOPSIS: A magical and beautifully animated journey through time, Arco is a dazzling adventure about a 10-year-old boy from a peaceful, distant future who accidentally travels back to the year 2075 and discovers a world in peril. As Arco develops a charming and touching friendship with a young girl named Iris, they band together and along with her trusted robot caretaker Mikki, set out on a quest to get Arco home, while the two children may also be the only ones who can save our planet. A wondrous odyssey filled with hope and optimism for our future, Arco is an enchanting fable from breakout filmmaker Ugo Bienvenu, produced by Remembers’ Bienvenu and Felix de Givry, and mountainA’s Natalie Portman and Sophie Mas.
NEON will release ARCO into theaters on November 14th for an Oscar qualifying run, before opening nationwide in January 2026.
