It’s Halloween, and what better time than now for Netflix to drop a new trailer for Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein that captures the gruesome beauty of his passion project. Oscar Isaac, Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Christian Convery, and Christoph Waltz lead a star-studded cast for the most anticipated adaptation of Mary Shelley’s horror classic yet.
Following its world premiere at Venice and recent slot at TIFF, Frankenstein promises a lavish epic, a tale of twisted genius and tragedy. Isaac plays Victor Frankenstein, but it’s Elordi as his tragic, monstrous Creation that has everyone talking.
SYNOPSIS: Oscar®-winning director Guillermo del Toro adapts Mary Shelley’s classic tale of Victor Frankenstein, a brilliant but egotistical scientist who brings a creature to life in a monstrous experiment that ultimately leads to the undoing of both the creator and his tragic creation.
While reviews have been strong, I found Frankenstein to be stylish and emotionally empty. I’m in the minority on this, though, and am curious to see the reaction once more people have their shot to check it out for themselves.
Frankenstein is in select theaters now, followed by Netflix on November 7th.
