‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ First Look: Ryan Gosling And Flynn Gray Take To The Sea

Shawn Levy’s Star Wars: Starfighter is shooting now, and the filmmaker has revealed the first image of stars Ryan Gosling and Flynn Gray. The image, captioned “Somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea”, shows the duo on the water which is a change of pace from typical Star Wars locations, which are either swampy or arid deserts.

Plot details remain under wraps, but the original film, penned by Jonathan Tropper, takes place five years after the events of The Rise of Skywalker and is not tied to that saga at all. Levy and Tropper have worked together multiple times on This is Where I Leave You, The Adam Project, and Kodachrome.

Amy Adams, Aaron Pierre, Mia Goth, Matt Smith, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings.

We don’t know much about the movie but it looks like a PG-rated adventure tale, maybe not too different from the recent Disney+ series Skeleton Crew. Theoretically, that’s something Levy should be pretty good at, but is it something fans want right now?

The next Star Wars project to be released is The Mandalorian and Grogu, arriving on May 22nd 2026. Lucasfilm will release Starfighter one year later on May 28th.
