‘Jay Kelly’ Trailer: George Clooney And Adam Sandler Lead Noah Baumbach’s Movie Star Dramedy This November

Noah Baumbach has stayed plenty busy as part of his exclusive deal with Netflix, earning accolades for The Meyerowitz Stories, Marriage Story, and White Noise for the streamer. Now he’s back with another film that looks to make a lot of waves this awards season, Jay Kelly, starring George Clooney as a fading actor and Adam Sandler as his manager and dear friend.

Jay Kelly is directed by Baumbach, who also co-wrote the screenplay with actress Emily Mortimer in her first feature writing credit. Clooney plays the titular actor who embarks on a surprising whirlwind tour of Europe with his devoted manager, played by Sandler.

As usual, Baumbach has gathered a stellar cast. Joining Clooney and Sandler are Mortimer, Billy Crudup, Laura Dern, Grace Edwards, Stacy Keach, Riley Keough, Patrick Wilson, Nicôle Lecky, Thaddea Graham, Jim Broadbent, Eve Hewson, Alba Rohrwacher, Lenny Henry, Josh Hamilton, Isla Fisher, Parker Sawyers, Kyle Soller, and Greta Gerwig.

SYNOPSIS: “Jay Kelly,” the new film from Academy Award nominee Noah Baumbach, follows famous movie actor, Jay Kelly (George Clooney), as he embarks on a journey of self-discovery, confronting both his past and present, accompanied by his devoted manager Ron (Adam Sandler). Poignant and humor-filled, epic and intimate, “Jay Kelly” is pitched at the intersection of life’s regrets and notable glories.

Jay Kelly had its world premiere at Venice, where it was nominated for the prestigious Golden Lion. Netflix will give it a brief theatrical release on November 14th before it heads exclusively to streaming on December 5th.
