It’s tough to believe, but when Zootopia 2 arrives this November, it will have been nine years since the first animated hit for Disney earned a whopping $1B at the box office. The entire world has changed in that span of time. While the first movie was lauded for being inclusive and for finding a fun and humorous way to teach the benefits of diversity to younger audiences, is that something that will fly in 2025?
Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Bateman return to voice police bunny Judy Hopps and sly fox Nick Wilde, respectively. Jared Bush, a co-writer on the previous film, takes over as co-director alongside the returning Byron Howard. Bush wrote the screenplay.
Other voices in the sequel are Ke Huy Quan as Gary De’Snake, the snake, Fortune Feimster as Nibbles the beaver, Shakira as Gazelle the gazelle, and Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby the quokka. Also in the voice cast are Idris Elba, Jean Reno, Nate Torrence, Bonnie Hunt, Don Lake, Jenny Slate, Alan Tudyk, Leah Latham, Josh Dallas, Tommy Chong, Mark Rhino Smith, and Raymond Persi.
SYNOPSIS: After cracking the biggest case in Zootopia’s history, rookie cops Judy Hopps (voice of Ginnifer Goodwin) and Nick Wilde (voice of Jason Bateman) find their partnership isn’t as solid as they thought when Chief Bogo (voice of Idris Elba) orders them to join the Partners in Crisis counseling program. But it doesn’t take long for their partnership to be put to the ultimate test when they find themselves on the twisting trail of a mystery tied to the arrival of a venomous snake in the animal metropolis.
Zootopia 2 opens in theaters on November 26th.
