For any activist, the hope is that their actions will have an impact on the world. But what if it is literally prophesied to be true? That’s one of the questions at the heart of The Man Who Saves the World?, the surreal new documentary from award-winning filmmaker Gabe Polsky.
To get an idea of the people this real-life story has affected, The Man Who Saves the World? is exec-produced by Peter Farrelly, Danny McBride, David Gordon Green, and Jody Hill. That’s a lot of star power and respect that Polsky has earned from other directors who clearly dig what he’s doing.
As seen in the new trailer, the film centers on Polsky’s journey to find peace actvist, interfaith chaplin, and spiritual leader Patrick McCollum, who may be at the center of an indigenous prophecy that he’ll unite the Amazon tribes and possibly save the world. Sounds a bit crazy, right?
Polsky is best known for his films The Motel Life, Butcher’s Crossing, and Red Army.
SYNOPSIS: Resurrection, indigenous prophecies, and adventures around the globe — this is the story of Patrick McCollum. A spiritual leader and peace advocate, he finds himself at the very center of an ancient prophecy that could decide the fate of our planet. Pulled into McCollum’s world, acclaimed director Gabe Polsky will bring us across continents on a spiritual journey in which the absurd and profound merge.
The Man Who Saves the World? opens in theaters this October for what Polsky and distributor Area 23a are calling “a hybrid release blending traditional runs with high-impact special events and post-screening forums designed to ignite national dialogue.” Clearly, the goal here is greater than mere box office.
