Paramount Pictures and Miles Teller continue to roll together, and now they’re teaming up for the Olympics film, Winter Games. Deadline reports Teller will star and produce the film from co-writer/director Paul Downs Colaizzo.
Winter Games “revolves around the high-stakes arena of the Winter Olympic Games, a perpetually overlooked skier and a self-sabotaging hockey legend who collide at their breaking points. Their unexpected connection threatens her chance for a medal and his shot at a comeback as they navigate romance and redemption in the Olympic Village.”
Colaizzo co-wrote the screenplay with Pat Cunnane. Known mainly as a playwright, Colaizzo previously wrote and directed the excellent comedy Brittany Runs a Marathon in 2019. Cunnane recently worked with Teller on A24’s rom-com Eternity, due out later this year when it’s expected to be an awards contender.
Teller and Paramount’s relationship continues following the hit Top Gun: Maverick. Coming up for Teller is the previously mentioned Eternity, and the Michael Jackson biopic, Michael. A remake of An Officer and a Gentleman is also in the works for Teller, but not much has been heard about that in a while. He last starred in Apple’s critically acclaimed horror-romance The Gorge opposite Anya Taylor-Joy, which I believe is one of the year’s best films.
