Robert Pattinson may be about to enter spice world. With development underway on Dune 3, Denis Villeneuve is reportedly eyeing Pattinson to join the A-list ensemble. This is only at the interest stage and no formal offers have been made.
If Pattinson does sign on for Dune, he will be taking on the chief villain role of Scytale. He would join a starry cast that already includes Timothée Chalamet and Zendaya. Pattinson and Zendaya recently starred together in Kristoffer Borgli’s upcoming A24 film, The Drama. Villeneuve went high-profile for Dune 2 by casting Austin Butler as the villain.
Filming is expected to begin this summer with Villeneuve behind the camera. There was some debate whether he’d return or not, but he is continuing on with the sci-fi epic.
So what does this do to Pattinson’s role in The Batman 2? At this point, it doesn’t seem as if there will be any disruption to the shooting of Matt Reeves’ sequel, which is set to open in 2027.
It’s been a busy time for Pattinson, who was recently seen in the sci-fi comedy Mickey 17. He is currently shooting Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, and has Lynne Ramsay’s Die, My Love opposite Jennifer Lawrence. [Deadline]
