It’s tough to believe, but the Now You See Me franchise is twelve years old (!!!), and it’s not even close to ending. Feels like a lifetime ago that the Four Horsemen’s first cinematic heist movie was my most anticipated of the year. The franchise has never lived up to my high expectations, but they have been successful for Lionsgate, which has just conjured up the trailer for Now You See Me: Now You Don’t, the third movie with a fourth confirmed to be on the way.
Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, and a returning Isla Fisher are back as the Four Horsemen, illusionists who use their skills to steal from the rich and give to the poor, basically. This has earned them a bunch of enemies, as you can imagine.
Mark Ruffalo and Morgan Freeman reprise their roles from the previous movies, joined by newcomers Ariana Greenblatt (Barbie), Justice Smith (I Saw the TV Glow), Rosamund Pike (Gone Girl) and Dominic Sessa (The Holdovers).
No sign of Lizzy Caplan, who replaced Fisher in Now You See Me 2.
Ruben Fleischer directs the third movie and will return for the fourth. He’s working from a script by Seth Grahame-Smith, Michael Lesslie, and Paul Wernick & Rhett Reese. Wernick and Reese worked with Fleischer on Zombieland years ago.
The first movie earned $350M worldwide while the sequel was nearly as successful with $334M.
SYNOPSIS: The Four Horsemen return along with a new generation of illusionists performing mind-melding twists, turns, surprises, and magic unlike anything ever captured on film.
Now You See Me: Now You Don’t hits theaters on November 14th.
