Ari Aster is headed to Cannes for the first time with his next film, Eddington, which will be in competition for the Palme d’Or. As part of the big announcement, A24 has released the first poster and official image from the film, with a trailer likely to drop in the next day or so.
The Eddington image shows Joaquin Phoenix as New Mexico Sheriff Joe Cross in a heated standoff with Pedro Pascal’s Mayor character. The story takes place during the 2020 pandemic, and follows the Sheriff’s high political ambitions.
Emma Stone, Austin Butler, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., and William Belleau co-star. The great cinematographer Darius Khonji will be lensing the film. He recently worked on Mickey 17 and Josh Safdie’s upcoming drama Marty Supreme.
Eddington doesn’t have a release date yet but that could change when A24 drops the trailer. So stay on the lookout.
