‘Broke’ Trailer: Wyatt Russell And Dennis Quaid Star In Rodeo Survival Thriller Next Month

Thunderbolts* star Wyatt Russell and Dennis Quaid tackle the darker side of rodeo culture in the upcoming Western drama, Broke. The film was written and directed by Carlyle Eubank (The Signal, Muzzle), and co-stars Auden Thornton, Mary McDonnell, Johnny Berchtold, and Tom Skerrit. Vince Vaughn, Peter Billingsley, and Russell are among the producers.

Here’s the synopsis: BROKE is a contemporary western following the story of True Brandywine (Wyatt Russell), a bareback bronc rider clinging to his fading rodeo career. When True gets trapped in a freak spring blizzard, he must battle injuries, illness, and the bitter cold. While fighting for his survival, True is forced to face his choices and the circumstances that led him to his tenuous situation.

Speaking with People, Russell called Broke “a true labor of love” and an authentic representation of rodeo culture.

Russell said, “We’re so used to seeing the bright side of rodeo and the bravado of the façade. But we never get to see the darker side of what it can be as well. Sometimes you can hang on a little too long, and like any aspect of life, it’s no different in a bronc rider’s life.”

Broke opens digitally on May 6th from Sony Pictures.
