Since Killers of the Flower Moon, Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio have been plotting their next collab. With multiple projects in various stages of development, Scorsese teased late last year that first up could be Home, an adaptation of Marilynne Robinson’s book. And now it has been made official via an Apple press release issued to Production Weekly.
Scorsese will write, direct, and produce Home, based on the second of Robinson’s Gilead novels. DiCaprio will produce and star in the film, while Todd Field (Little Children, Tar) is aboard as a producer, as well.
Home is the second book in Robinson’s Gilead series, exploring faith and rural life in the fictional Iowa town, and follows the Boughton family, patriarch Rev. Boughton, and his two adult children, Glory and Jack, as they return home after many years away.
DiCaprio has been Scorsese’s modern muse through seven previous movies: Killers of the Flower Moon, The Departed, Gangs of New York, Shutter Island, The Wolf of Wall Street, and The Aviator.
Scorsese has a ton of projects cooking, including The Devil in the White City, a Frank Sinatra biopic, a Hawaii crime film, A Life of Jesus, and The Wager, many of which involve DiCaprio.
Home will be an Apple Original, so it will be interesting to see if it gets a significant theatrical release or head to Apple TV+ exclusively.
