Sony Moves ‘Spider-Man 4’ A Week To July 31st 2026, Further Away From ‘The Odyssey’

While we’re still in the dark as to what will be happening in Spider-Man 4, we do know its new spot on the release date calendar. Sony Pictures has pushed the Marvel sequel a week to July 31st 2026. Why is this relatively small move significant?

The answer is that Spider-Man 4 will now have two weeks of elbow room from Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey. That star-studded likely blockbuster also features Holland, so he won’t be directly competing against himself quite as much. The film also stars Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson, Jon Bernthal, Mia Goth, Benny Safdie, Elliot Page, and more.

On the other hand, we have no confirmed Spider-Man casting other than Holland. Don’t be shocked if Charlie Cox’s Matt Murdock/Daredevil pops up as the character appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home and is about to launch two seasons of Daredevil: Born Again. Plus Spidey/Daredevil is one of Marvel Comics’ iconic superhero team-up acts.

The film will be directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, who took over for the previous trilogy’s director, Jon Watts. Cretton knows his way around the MCU, having previously worked on Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. He’s also got a Wonder Man series coming for Disney+.

Sony recently gave up on their Spider-Man cinematic universe with the failures of Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, and Morbius. But they can always count on Spidey, so expect to start hearing more casting news soon.
