Andrew Garfield Is Denying ‘Spider-Man 4’ Rumors And Knows We Won’t Believe Him

It’s like 2021 all over again! You might recall that Andrew Garfield spent much of the year denying that he would put on the Spidey suit again for Spider-Man: No Way Home, joining Tom Holland and Tobey Maguire. He was asked about it in EVERY interview until the frustration was visible on his face, and yet when the movie came out there he was slingin’ webs with his buddies in the MCU. So why should we believe him this time?

While Spider-Man 4 is facing some creative issues, it’s still expected to roll later this year ahead of the July 24th 2026 release.  That has people speculating about who will be joining Holland as he’s the only confirmed star. Will we see Zendaya return? Probably, but nothing is signed yet. Fans have speculated most about Maguire and Garfield, who brought such feel-good nostalgic energy to No Way Home and helped take it to an amazing $1.9B box office.

When asked by GQ UK whether he’s been cast in Spider-Man 4, Garfield shot it down quick while acknowledging that he’s a tough one to trust on such subjects…

“Yeah, no,” he said. “But I know no one’s gonna trust anything I say from now on.”

This will probably be a recurring line of questioning for the next year or so. Garfield might as well get used to it.

Garfield also took the time to address another rumor, that he’d be starring in Martin Scorsese’s A Life of Jesus.

“There was a rumor,” Garfield said, “it’s not true to my knowledge.” “You can’t just keep waiting for Scorsese to call, ’cause he makes a movie every three years, and a lot of the time Leo DiCaprio is in it.”

Garfield has already received one of those calls from Scorsese, having starred in the filmmaker’s adaptation of Silence in 2016.
