Will Ferrell is being talked about a lot right now for the heartwarming Netflix documentary Will & Harper, a film that many see as an Academy Award nominee. While he might not be the comedy box office heavyweight that he used to be (the last hit movie he led was Daddy’s Home 2 in 2018), Ferrell is far from done making people laugh, and for his next film he’ll do it with the help of director Nicholas Stoller.
Deadline reports Ferrell will star in Judgment Day, to be directed by Nicholas Stoller for Amazon MGM. Penned by Stoller, the film “follows a young convict fresh out of prison who takes a reality TV courtroom hostage, blaming the megalomaniac TV judge (Ferrell) for a past ruling that the convict feels ruined his life.
So it sounds like Ferrell will be only half of a crazy pair in this one, and it’ll be interesting to see who they get to play the hostage-taking convict.
This will be a reunion for Ferrell and Stoller, who have the anticipated wedding comedy You’re Cordially Invited premiering on Prime Video in January.
Stoller has been behind some huge comedies either as a director or writer, including Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Neighbors, Sex Tape, and The Muppets. He last directed the Billy Eichner-led rom-com Bros.
