‘Unstoppable’ Trailer: Jharrel Jerome And Jennifer Lopez Overcome The Odds In Acclaimed Wrestling Drama

Think you know how the Best Actor race is going to turn out? Well, don’t sleep on the performance by Jharrel Jerrome in Unstoppable, because as the underdog wrestling drama makes its way through the festival circuit, the young Emmy-winning actor is who a lot of people are talking about.

Unstoppable stars Jerrome as Arizona State University NCAA wrestling champion Anthony Robles, a young man born with only one leg. But his physical disability is nothing compared to the other hurdles he must overcome, including an abusive stepfather and a collegiate system that seems to be working against him.

Jerrome stars alongside Jennifer Lopez, Bobby Cannavale, Don Cheadle, and Michael Peña. The film is produced by Ben Affleck and Matt Damon through their Artists Equity label. The film is directed by William Goldenberg, an acclaimed editor who worked with Affleck previously on Argo, Live by Night, and Air.

SYNOPSIS: Anthony Robles, despite being born without a right leg and growing up in an abusive household, rises to become a NCAA Division 1 Champion wrestler, ultimately winning a national championship against the school that rejected him, national powerhouse Iowa. (Based on the book Unstoppable: From Underdog to Undefeated: How I Became a Champion, by Anthony Robles and Austin Murphy.)

Amazon MGM Studios will release Unstoppable in theaters on December 6th for a limited run. You can check out my early review here.
