Jared Leo Reportedly Offered Skeletor Role In ‘Masters Of The Universe’

Take this with a grain of salt, but Amazon’s Masters of the Universe movie may have found its Skeletor. According to Jeff Sneider, Oscar winner Jared Leto has been offered the role of He-Man’s nemesis.

Again, this is unconfirmed and even if true, Leto could turn down the role. Leto would join Nicholas Galitzine (The Idea of You) who plays Prince Adam aka He-Man, legendary warrior and defender of the planet Eternia. Riverdale‘s Camila Mendes has taken on the role of He-Man’s colleague, Teela, while Alison Brie is set to play the villainous Evil-Lyn.

The film will be directed by Laika founder and Bumblebee director, Travis Knight, from a script written most recently by Chris Butler.

Leto has a lot of experience in this genre, having starred in Sony/Marvel’s disastrous Morbius film. He also played the Joker in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, and had a key role in Blade Runner 2049. He’ll be seen next in Tron: Ares. While he is an Oscar winner, Leto is a divisive actor known for doing things his own way, not necessarily the expected way. His casting could be polarizing to fans.

Masters of the Universe opens June 5th 2026. Here’s the latest synopsis:

“10-year-old Prince Adam who crashed to Earth in a spaceship and was separated from his magical Power Sword—the only link to his home on Eternia. After tracking it down almost two decades later, Prince Adam is whisked back across space to defend his home planet against the evil forces of Skeletor. But to defeat such a powerful villain, Prince Adam will first need to uncover the mysteries of his past and become He-Man: the most powerful man in the Universe!”
