It’s Official: Matthias Schoenaerts Lands Villain Role In ‘Supergirl: Woman Of Tomorrow’

It’s official: after being rumored for the role earlier this month, Matthias Schoenaerts has landed the villain role in Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. THR confirmed the news of the Belgian actor joining star Milly Alcock in James Gunn’s key film for DC Studios.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow is based on Tom King’s comic book series, a sweeping intergalactic adventure that helped define Kara Zor-El as her own superhero and more than just Superman’s cousin. Schoenaerts will take on the plum role of Krem of the Yellow Hills.

In King’s comics run, Krem  is a Kingsagent who murdered in cold blood the father of Ruthye Marye Knoll, a young alien girl who enlists Kara’s aid in exacting vengeance against him. The journey finds Kara coping with the destruction of her home planet Krypton by trying to help Ruthye shed her desire for revenge. Krem also shoots Krypto the Superdog with a poison arrow, so you know this guy is a real scumbag.

Schoenaerts is best known for his roles in The Old Guard, Rust & Bone, and Far from the Madding Crowd. Readers of this site already know he’s my favorite actor. The guy can literally do anything you ask him to beautifully, whether he needs to be a bruiser or play the sensitive romantic lead. Yes, I’m quite happy with this news.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will be directed by Craig Gillespie, and opens in theaters June 26th 2026.
