‘Nosferatu’ Trailer: Bill Skarsgård Is An Ancient Evil In Pursuit Of Love In Robert Eggers’ Gothic Horror

Through his three features, The Witch, The Lighthouse, and The Northman, Robert Eggers established his fascination with folklore and the nature of evil. That continues this December with the release of Nosferatu, a Gothic horror loosely based on the 1921 classic about an ancient vampire from Transylvania and the chaos he causes in pursuit of the woman he’s obsessed with.

As we saw in the first trailer and this one, Eggers’ has taken his distinguished, stylish filmmaking style to another level. Nosferatu looks like his most accessible film and also his scariest.

Bill Skarsgård is back in another creepy role as the titular vampire, joined by Lily-Rose Depp as Ellen Hunter, the woman he’s obsessed with, and Nicholas Hoult as her husband, Thomas Hutter, who must fight to save her. Also in the cast are Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Emma Corrin, Ralph Ineson, Simon McBurney, and Willem Dafoe who earned an Oscar nomination for his performance in Shadow of the Vampire, a fictitious account of the original Nosferatu.

SYNOPSIS: A gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her causing untold horror in its wake.

Nosferatu will paint the holidays red on Christmas Day, so thank Focus Features for the gift.
