New ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Trailer Has Lady Gaga Singing Her Heart Out To Joaquin Phoenix

How excited are you for Joker: Folie à Deux? The buzz is pretty quiet this time around, right? This is all anecdotal, but my friends who loved the first Joker movie and helped push it to over $1B worldwide don’t seem to have much interest this time. And when I ask them about it, the response is always the same: they don’t get the musical stuff. Why is a Batman movie (because that’s how they see it) suddenly a musical?

That said, reviews have been solid for Todd Phillips’ sequel, which returns Joaquin Phoenix to the role of Arthur Fleck, and introduces Lady Gaga as Harley Quinn, who he meets while imprisoned at Arkham Asylum. The film resembles a musical and legal drama, which could be an amazing combination or tonally confusing.

Also in the cast are Zazie Beetz, Brendan Gleeson, Catherine Keener, Jacob Lofland, Steve Coogan, and Ken Jeong.

SYNOPSIS: “Joker: Folie À Deux” finds Arthur Fleck institutionalized at Arkham awaiting trial for his crimes as Joker. While struggling with his dual identity, Arthur not only stumbles upon true love, but also finds the music that’s always been inside him.

Warner Bros. releases Joker: Folie à Deux in theaters on October 4th.
