Alan Tudyk Joins ‘Superman’ Cast In A Mystery Role

There are so many DC heroes that we already know will show up in James Gunn’s Superman that it must really mean something when one is kept a secret. But that’s what happening right now, as Deadline confirms Alan Tudyk has landed a mystery role in the film that will star David Corenswet as the Man of Steel and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane.

Tudyk, a beloved actor for his time on Firefly and roles in Rogue One, A Knight’s Tale, and lead role in Resident Alien, is already part of Gunn’s DCU. He voices the villain Doctor Phosphorus in animated series Creature Commandos, debuting on MAX this December.

It’s highly unlikely that Tudyk will bring his Phosphorus role to the live-action Superman, which begs the question who is he playing? I maintain that he’d be a fantastic Booster Gold, a character we know is showing up at some point.

Tudyk joins other co-stars Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mr. Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., plus María Gabriela de Faría, Sara Sampaio, Terence Rosemore, Pruitt Taylor Vince, Neva Howell, Beck Bennett, Mikaela Hoover, and Christopher McDonald.

Superman opens in theaters on July 11th.
