Box Office: ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ Claws Back To #1 As ‘The Crow’ And ‘Blink Twice’ Struggle

  1. Deadpool & Wolverine– $18.3M/$577.2M

Nothing can keep this film down. After just one week at #2, Deadpool & Wolverine fought its way back to the top with $18.3M, thanks to a weak crop of new releases. The Marvel film just keeps clawing higher, and now has $1.21B worldwide.

2. Alien: Romulus– $16.2M/$72.6M

Falling to #2 after a week at #1, Alien: Romulus now has $72M domestically and $225M worldwide. After only two weeks it is mere days away from surpassing the $240M lifetime haul of Alien: Covenant.

3. It Ends With Us– $11.8M/$120.8M

4. Blink Twice (review)- $7.3M

Zoe Kravitz’s directorial debut Blink Twice opened with $7.3M, a disappointing start for the Amazon/MGM feature starring Channing Tatum. Reviews were okay with the 79% critic score on Rotten Tomatoes being its highest, and that’s clearly not enough to generate long-lasting word of mouth. Globally the film has earned just $14M. Clearly, audiences would rather see Tatum as Gambit and not as a Jeffrey Epstein clone.

5. The Forge– $6.6M

6. Twisters– $6.2M/$248.6M

7. Coraline– $5M/$24M

What a smashing success the Fathom Events re-release of Coraline has been. After two weeks, the 15-year-old film has $24M, appealing to older fans and reaching new audiences.

8. The Crow (review)- $4.6M

Shocker. A film that has been in the works for sixteen years and was denied to press had a shitty opening weekend. There’s no returning from the grave for The Crow, it’s dead and buried after opening to just $4.6M. It’s funny that Hollywood has been so pressed to reimagine the comic book and memorable (for tragic reasons) 1994 film. It’s not exactly a property that has ever been a big money earner, and star Bill Skarsgard, good as he might be at creepy roles, isn’t a box office draw, either.  Critically, the film has been trashed with just 20% on Rotten Tomatoes.

9. Despicable Me 4– $4.4M/$348.2M

10. Inside Out 2– $2.1M/$646.3M
