‘Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story’ Trailer: Acclaimed Documentary Reveals How Reeve Became A Hero To The Disabled

I know a lot of people who feel that there was only one guy to play Superman: Christopher Reeve. The actor, who played the Man of Steel in four movies, left behind a legacy for things that go beyond his performances on the screen. And that is what the documentary Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is all about, the incredible man he was outside of the suit.

One of the most talked-about films at Sundance this year, Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story is about the actor’s life after the tragic horse riding accident that left him paralyzed. Reeve’s life became one of activism, as he became a superhero advocate in the fight for disability rights.

The film was directed by Ian Bonhôte and Peter Ettedgui, who previously helmed the McQueen documentary in 2018.

This one’s going to be a real tear-jerker based on this trailer and from what I’ve heard from friends who’ve already seen it. Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story opens on September 21st and 25th.

SYNOPSIS: The story of Christopher Reeve is an astonishing rise from unknown actor to iconic movie star, and his definitive portrayal of Clark Kent/Superman set the benchmark for the superhero cinematic universes that dominate cinema today. Reeve portrayed the Man of Steel in four Superman films and played dozens of other roles that displayed his talent and range as an actor, before being injured in a near-fatal horse-riding accident in 1995 that left him paralyzed from the neck down. After becoming a quadriplegic, he became a charismatic leader and activist in the quest to find a cure for spinal cord injuries, as well as a passionate advocate for disability rights and care – all while continuing his career in cinema in front of and behind the camera and dedicating himself to his beloved family.
