So you liked It Ends with Us, did you? Clearly, the fan response to the adaptation of Colleen Hoover’s bestseller was huge with a whopping $50M debut, and it’s got Hollywood eager to bring more of the author’s work to screens. Deadline reports that Allison Williams and McKenna Grace will star in Regretting You, an indie film adaptation of Hoover’s 2019 novel.
Regretting You “centers on the complex relationship between Morgan Grant (Williams) and her daughter, Clara. Morgan became a mother at a young age, putting her own dreams on hold to raise Clara. As Clara grows into a teenager, their relationship becomes strained, especially after a tragic accident claims the life of Chris, Morgan’s husband and Clara’s father.”
The film will be directed by Josh Boone, known for The Fault in Our Stars ,The New Mutants, and Stephen King’s The Stand. Susan McMartin adapted the screenplay.
A movie based on Hoover’s book Verity is also in the works over at Amazon MGM. Following the success of It Ends with Us, it’s likely Hoover’s sequel novel It Starts with Us will also be adapted.
Williams last starred in the horror hit M3GAN and will return for the sequel, M3GAN 2.0. Grace was last seen in Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire and the Disney sci-fi adventure Crater.
