’28 Years Later’: Jack O’Connell Joins Danny Boyle’s Dystopian Sequel

After making fans wait more than two decades, 28 Years Later is coming together rather swiftly With Jodie Comer, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Fiennes, and possibly Cillian Murphy aboard Danny Boyle and Alex Garland’s dystopian sequel, the latest to join the cast is Jack O’Connell.

Deadline reports on  O’Connell joining the 28 Years Later cast. No details on his role, naturally, but we know his character will exist in a world where a “rage virus” has infected much of humanity. The film is a follow-up to 28 Days Later and considered a direct sequel, side-stepping the events of 28 Weeks Later which Boyle and Garland were only exec-producers on.

O’Connell burst onto the scene with roles in This is EnglandStarred Up, and ’71. He has since gone on to star in much larger films such as UnbrokenMad Money, and the upcoming Amy Winehouse biopic Back to Black.

28 Years Later will be the start of a new trilogy, which Boyle directing the first chapter and Nia DaCosta (The Marvels) directing the second.
