The Orphan Black series is connected by a pair of Marvel alums. The original series launched the career of future She-Hulk, Tatiana Maslany. A brand new follow-up series, Orphan Black: Echoes, is led by Krysten Ritter, who starred (and may star again one day) in Jessica Jones as part of Marvel Netflix.
So how long before Maslany and Ritter have a chance to team up? Probably not gonna happen here, as Orphan Black: Echoes takes place more than three decades after the prior series. Ritter stars as Lucy, a woman who underwent a procedure and has no memory of who she is. Also in the cast is Keely Hawes, who plays Dr. Kira Manning, the adult daughter of Sarah Manning, the character played by Maslany.
Also in the cast are Amanda Fix, Avan Jogia, Rya Kihlstedt, and James Hiroyuki Liao. The series was created by Anna Fishko (Fear the Walking Dead) who is also the series showrunner, writer, and exec-producer.
Here’s the synopsis: Set in the near future, Orphan Black: Echoes takes a deep dive into the exploration of the scientific manipulation of human existence. It follows a group of women as they weave their way into each other’s lives and embark on a thrilling journey, unravelling the mystery of their identity and uncovering a wrenching story of love and betrayal. Ritter plays Lucy, a woman with an unimaginable origin story, trying to find her place in the world.
Orphan Black: Echoes premieres on June 23rd on AMC, BBC, and AMC+.
