‘Cross’ Trailer: Aldis Hodge Is James Patterson’s Famous Crime-Solver In Prime Video’s Alex Cross Series

Prime Video knows what their subscribers want, and it’s shows based on literary heroes who happen to be big, tough dudes. Following the success of Reacher and Jack Ryan, next up on the list is Cross, starring Aldis Hodge as Alex Cross, author James Patterson’s character previously played by both Morgan Freeman and Tyler Perry.

Hodge, a popular actor known for his roles in Straight Outta Compton and Black Adam, plays hard-nosed detective and forensic psychologist Alex Cross who has a knack for getting into the heads of killers and would-be victims. It doesn’t hurt that he’s also a big dude who can scrap if he has to.

The character Alex Cross has been the center of three movies. Freeman played him twice in Kiss the Girls and Along Came a Spider. In 2012, Perry starred as Cross in the attempted reboot Alex Cross, which went nowhere.

Hodge is joined in the cast by Isaiah Mustafa, Juanita Jennings, Alona Tal, Samantha Walkes, Caleb Elijah, Melody Hurd, Jennifer Wigmore, Eloise Mumford, Ryan Eggold, and Johnny Ray Gill. Ben Watkins created the series and acts as showrunner.

So there’s a zero percent chance I won’t watch this. Hodge is the best Black actor working today in my opinion, and he’s been long overdue for some spotlight. Can we get a Cross/Reacher crossover because Hodge and Alan Ritchson together is just too good.

Prime Video has yet to give Cross an official launch date, but they have already green lit a second season.
