‘The Acolyte’ Trailer: Murder, Lies, And Secrets Threaten The Jedi In New Series Arriving Next Month

Happy Star Wars Day! While you’re all out there celebrating the annual fan holiday and hopefully seeking out the best deals around on cool stuff, stop and check out this awesome new trailer for The Acolyte. The upcoming limited series from Leslye Headland (Russian Doll) has been shrouded in mystery, even the vague teaser released some weeks ago. But that’s no longer the case now, as this footage introduces us to a Jedi conspiracy full of murder, lies, secrets, and of course, lightsaber battles.

Set during the High Republic era around 100 years prior to The Skywalker Saga, The Acolyte stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Charlie Barnett, Dean-Charles Chapman, Carrie-Anne Moss, Margarita Levieva, and Joonas Suotamo who trades in his Chewbacca suit for that of Kelnacca, a Wookie Jedi master.

Here’s the synopsis: In “The Acolyte,” an investigation into a shocking crime spree pits a respected Jedi Master (Lee Jung-jae) against a dangerous warrior from his past (Amandla Stenberg). As more clues emerge, they travel down a dark path where sinister forces reveal all is not what it seems….

As Lucasfilm looks to get away from the Skywalkers and tell new stories, expect to see more set around this era. Especially if fans take to it, which based on all of the Jedi action seen here, they almost certainly will.

The Acolyte hits Disney+ on June 4th.
