All desert roads lead to this May, when we are finally returned to the post-apocalyptic world of George Miller’s Mad Max. The Fury Road prequel, Furiosa, stars Anya Taylor-Joy as the character who kicked so much ass when played by Charlize Theron. And based on everything we’ve seen so far and in this new trailer, she’s more than up to the role.
The film explores an aspect of Furiosa’s life that she touched upon in Fury Road; her kidnapping from the Green Place of Many Mothers and into the hands of a tyrant.
Joining Taylor-Joy in the cast is Chris Hemsworth as Warlord Dementus in what looks like a bonkers performance. Tom Burke is also in the cast, along with Angus Sampson, Nathan Jones, and Lachy Hulme who takes over as Immortan Joe.
Here’s the synopsis: As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland, they come across the Citadel presided over by The Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga races into theaters on May 24th.
