I am once again honored to be a co-chair of the Critics Choice Super Awards, celebrating the best in science-fiction, fantasy, superhero, action, and horror movies and series. And this year, the Super Awards nominees were led on the film side by Mission: Impossible-Dead Reckoning with five total nominations including Best Action Movie, Best Actor in an Action Movie for Tom Cruise, plus Best Actress for Rebecca Ferguson, Hayley Atwell, and Pom Klementieff.

John Wick Chapter 4 was also well represented with four nominations, including Best Action Movie, plus Best Actor in an Action Movie nominations for Keanu Reeves and Donnie Yen. Rina Sawayama earned a nomination for Best Actress in an Action Movie.

The Best Villain category was hotly contested this year, with Jason Momoa’s over-the-top performance in Fast X earning a nomination alongside Godzilla in Godzilla Minus One, M3GAN, Alyssa Sutherland for Evil Dead Rise, and Chukwudi Iwuji as High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

On the TV side, The Last of Us led all with seven total Super Awards nominations including Best Superhero Series and Best Horror Series, while Pedro Pascal also earned nominations for Best Superhero and Best Horror Actor, while Bella Ramsey was nominated for Best Superhero Actress and Best Horror Actress.
