Vin Diesel Says ‘Fast X’ Two-Part Finale Could Now Become A Trilogy

Shocker of shocker, with Fast X right around the corner, Universal Pictures is loathe to let their billion-dollar franchise go. At the recent world premiere in Rome, Vin Diesel let slip that Universal may want to slice up the upcoming eleventh movie into two parts, meaning this one is no longer the penultimate but instead the first leg of a trilogy.

Diesel told the red carpet host, “Going into making this movie, the studio asked if this could be a two-parter. And after the studio saw this one, they said, ‘Could you make “Fast X” the finale, a trilogy?”

Co-star Michelle Rodriguez added, “It’s three acts in any story.”

Diesel teased “You’re gonna get me in trouble here” when asked straight-up whether there will definitely be a twelfth movie.

So nothing has been confirmed yet, but let’s be honest, this is probably happening. If Diesel felt comfortable enough to say it out in the open, it’s because he’s comfortable enough that it will move forward. To put something like this out there and get the millions of Fast & Furious fans hyped for it, then to not deliver…well, that doesn’t sound like something Diesel would ever do.

Fast X opens in theaters on May 19th, and based on some pretty big spoilers out there it ends on one heckuva cliffhanger with a surprise cameo. We won’t be ruining that here (It was ruined for me, I won’t do it to you), but you can look it up if you absolutely must know. [Variety]
