‘The One’: Melissa Barrera, Nicholas Hoult, Lana Condor To Star In Reality Dating Show Horror

Melissa Barrera of Scream, Scream VI, and Carmen is about to go on the reality show date from Hell. Hanway Films has boarded The One, an “erotic nightmare”which will see Barrera starring alongside Nicholas Hoult. Lana Condor (To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before) co-stars, with Riley Keough (War Pony) aboard as a producer.

The film will be directed and written by the duo of Kevin Armento and Jaki Bradley. This will mark Armento’s debut, while Bradley directed the 2019 Fire Island thriller, Last Ferry.

Barrera will play Taylor, “who makes a last-ditch effort to find love by becoming a contestant on a reality dating show. Now down to just herself and two other women competing to win the heart of Mason (Hoult), Taylor begins to feel the artifice of the show fade, and the game becomes terrifyingly real. Amidst the opulent beachfront setting, fairytale dates and ever-flowing champagne, pursuit turns into obsession and rivalry turns into treachery as reality itself blurs.”

While it doesn’t say anything about Keough taking a role, comments by Armento and Bradley do seem to suggest it: “We’ve been dreaming up this project for years, and are thrilled to now bring it to life with our actual dream team. Nick, Melissa, Riley, and Lana are some of the most exciting talents around, and their passion for this film — shared by our incredible producers — has us even more eager to make this nightmare a reality.“

Another one to keep an eye on at Cannes, as a package like this is likely to command a lot of attention.
